Christmas Gift Guide Little Girl's Edition

Although what's really on her list is a baby, a real baby, but I'm not so sure I can grant that wish just yet. She definitely noted she wanted paint and other things to "work" with. The girl is super artistic, I can just picture her sitting in the office with me stringing her beads while I work. Also, something she loves to do is cook in her pretend kitchen, which will keep her busy for hours. She also keeps asking for pots and pans and of course this Melissa and Doug setup is perfect. For outdoors, she loves playing on her Razor Jr. Lil' Kick Scooter, she asks to take it anytime we go somewhere.

I am obsessing over the Little Readers Big Dream series. The books are written about outstanding people like Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks and a personal favorite, Coco Chanel, plus a few others. These stories and the beautiful illustrations included in the books, make it possible for my daughter to engage with truly remarkable people at a young age, and I am so grateful for that. I really cannot wait to get my hands on the entire series.

I get asked a lot about where I get Lyla's pajamas, my secret, H&M. Surprisingly and more often than not, I run into people who have no idea they even have a kids selection.

I never realized how daunting Christmas shopping could be until I became a parent, so I hope in some sort of way this has helped you shop for your little. Happy Holidays !

I know, two weeks have passed since Halloween, but I still want to share Lyla's costume with you, since her costume was totally rad this year! Originally, she wanted to be a vampire, then a bat, but when her Great Nonna tried convincing her to be a princess she said, and I kid you not, "Sure! I'll be a princess....... a zombie princess!" We started cracking up, because I as a child have said that exact thing. I had planned on her being a bat (hence the bat skirt) but last minute she really wanted to be a zombie princess, and so she was this Halloween, a Zombie Princess -- the prettiest zombie, I've ever laid eyes on.

Also, I've been wanting to address why you guys didn't see any blog posts from me during my favorite month, October, as originally stated in a previous post. I had a lot planned for the month, drafts were written and all. But as you know, tragedy struck in Las Vegas and while I was not at the concert, some of my dearest friends were. Life went on for the majority of the world, but this hit very close to my heart. I will not go into detail, answer any questions or ever discuss this again on my site, so please refrain from asking any questions as they will not be answered. I just wanted to ensure you that blogging is a top priority of mine, as well as sharing my life you, but my first priority will always be family and those I consider family. Sometimes blogging and social media (monetized or not) need to take a backseat, and this was one of those times. However, we did continue our more intimate October by hitting up the pumpkin patch, watching scary movies, apple picking etc, doing halloween makeup etc and we did it all together family+friends and despite everything, the month of October still happened to be my favorite this year, and left me with many things and people to be grateful for this month (and always).

We Moved To Washington! SURPRISE!!!

Yes! Yes! Yes! It finally happened, we moved...again!  You guys have known the move was coming for quite sometime now, but I wanted to keep things on the DL until it was a "for sure" thing. It is. We're here (obviously), safe and sound. We loaded up all our stuff and hit the twenty hour drive to Washington. I braved the roads with just my Lyla girl in the back, while Alan and Arlo ventured on their own. By the way, Lyla just so happens to be the greatest road trip partner ever and I'm not just saying that because I am biased, she was actually amazing for the whole ride, zero meltdowns. Although, there was that time she told me she really, really had to go poop, after we had made a stop about 15 mins prior...turned out she didn't have to poop, she just wanted me to stop for food, so we split a sandwich. Haha. I knew I had my hands full, but sheesh, she's clever for a four year old---- I mean, she is my child and all *wink.

2017 has been quite the pivotal year for us, a lot has taken place, both good and challenging (mostly challenging) but most recently, we bought our first home! Surprise again! And our move? completely unrelated to the military. Yup! We are done with that shit too! We're so excited to be starting this chapter of our lives in the jaw dropping, Evergreen State -- How awesome is that? We're so grateful to be able to make this our first home. We've been through a lot this year, and I am incredibly ready to escape from all the chaos and just enjoy the little chaos of getting our home together.

Oh also, Mother Nature hit the nail on the head. Can you imagine going from California weather to snow? I was not ready for that just yet, I thought I had a few more weeks, at least one more week before I would need to unzip my airtight winter gear (which isn't much)---I drove here in flip flops. Mother Nature apparently had other plans! Thankfully, we had stopped at a Columbia outlet recently and I picked up a few warm things. Catch me in my cabin socks and 5 different layers! I've lived by the beach for the last six years you guys, it's going to take some time for me to get used this. I plan on doing a Grandma amount of baking and indoor activities this winter, I might even take up crocheting *insert laughing/crying emoji .

I hope you stick around to see us as we take on Washington!
